Gas companies collect great revenues, but do they have the right to these revenues at the expense of family recreation? If this was a mom and pop shop making great money nobody would care. But the small business has very little effect on the economy. How does the power the oil companies have affect our fishing?
The cost of gas has gone skyrocketed. It’s limiting individuals and families from being able to drive anywhere. Some people will start working an extra day just to afford gas. So, knowing mom and dad already work and now they’re working an extra day, how much time is spent with the kids? The camping and fishing trips are gone. In fact the whole family spends less time together. Are we giving the … gangs of the world an open door to recruit?
So if individual families can’t afford to go fishing, doesn’t this hold true for the small and even large fishing companies? How much are we willing to pay for fish? Going to your favorite restaurant and ordering your favorite fish is now questionable. How many fishing jobs are going away because oil companies have so much control? I’ve seen these fishing jobs and it takes some … to be in the middle of nowhere, in a storm and want to go back, no … way.
How is fishing equipment effected by our latest gas pricing? First of all, if nobody goes fishing, fishing equipment is not needed, duh. Now the manufactures have to lay off workers because less equipment is being sold. And the small retail mom and pop shops, they have to close their doors because they can’t afford to go to work and nothing is selling. So maybe that was a little extreme. But the cost of getting the materials has increased so the cost of the product will increase. This still creates the same path.
The activity does not matter. Fishing, camping, hiking, boating, hunting, whatever you and your family do the cost has increased. Gas and oil affect everything.
In 1999 the average price per gallon was $1.17. In 2004 gas hit $2.00 per gallon.
How did the oil companies get control of our economy? In California, the commuting capital of the world, they need fuel to get to work. You know, the oil companies should make billions of dollars.
It’s time for the people to get involved. Take some control of our government and know who you are voting for and what they stand for. Clean Sweep congress and make them accountable.
If anybody with a real job lies, cheats or steals they get fired. Congress does every day to keep their jobs. Again, what the … .
The world follows basic principles of economics, just like any other business. So let’s recruit the great business people of the world and let them run the country. I know, they would take a pay cut.
I read a sign today that makes a great point, “2 presidential candidates each will blow over $125 million for a job that pays $400,000 yr must have a great dental plan” (casadice.com).
I don’t think anyone truly cares enough to do anything about the gas prices. I believe most will just … and move on. Instead of enjoying our lives together, we feed our ego and put down our neighbor. The circle of life, keep the poor below poverty, the middle class struggling and let the rich get richer.
